essential oil and lavender flowers

Recipe: Pet-friendly Floor Cleaner

I know it’s felt like Spring just about all Winter but since the actual Spring is on its way in, I figured it would be the perfect time to talk Spring Cleaning.

I’ve been obsessed with purging this year. Boxes upon boxes have been donated and I went on the hunt for pet-friendly DIY cleaners to take the place of all those harsh chemicals.

I spend a lot of time keeping my floors clear of kitty fur dust-bunnies so I want to make sure that whatever is on the floor is safe for them.

This recipe is super-simple for vinyl, tile, and stone floors:

  • One gallon warm water
  • One cup of distilled white vinegar
  • Squeeze in a few drops of fresh lemon juice for scent. (You can also use a drop or 2 of essential oil but please check with your vet first.)
  • Clean with a mop and allow to air dry.

For hardwood or laminate floors, reduce the vinegar to 1/2 cup per gallon of warm water and dry immediately with a soft towel.
